A new analysis, by researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, suggests that some urinary tract infections could be prevented if patients were to receive antibiotics when they have urinary catheters removed.

Congratulations to Sarah Greene who is a MSTP student in Dr. Scott Hultrgen's laboratory in the Department of Molecular Microbiology.  Sarah is pursuing her thesis work on novel treatments of urinary tract infections.  Sarah recently obtained a highly competitive Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Predoctoral Fellowship Award (NIH - F30) to support her work based on her grant entitled: Optimizing anti-virulence compounds for the treatment of UTIs.
